I am currently studying a two year National Diploma in Motorsport Engineering & Design. I've only just begun the course, however I want to try and find out what kinds of career I could possibly get myself into.
I can see myself working within design more than mechanics, and was wondering if there is anybody out there who could recommend a bunch of design jobs which are related to Motorsport. Whether that would be body panel design, or livery creator, any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

There are a lot of areas where design expertise is utilized by race car constructors, racing component manufacturers, and racing teams.
One that is hot right now is damper (shock) design. Shock design and tuning is viewed by most racers as voodoo, so to speak. Shock companies are constantly developing new products hoping that racers will buy them.
Another area that I think will be hot in the future is tire design. Things in the world of energy are changing and tire technology will be changing rapidly in response. Write letters of inquiry to some of the large U.S. and European tire manufacturers.
There are a lot of other areas of design, composite materials, aero-design, engine components, etc.
Good luck, I'm glad you have a dream.
