what to do if a Laptop bought from pcworld/currys on ebay is faulty?

i bought 3 laptops from pcworld/currys shop on ebay on 01/08/2011. Only one laptop is fine so far but one stops working while booting, i mean it shuts off automatically and one has a very tiny shiny pixel on the screen.

These items were refurbished and had 3months warranty. i contacted ebay about this. Ebay advisor advised me online to contact the currys/pc world direectly and gave me the tel. no. It is about a month i am trying to call on that tel. but it does not go through. I told ebay about this and they asked me to contact to paypal through resolustion centre. I have just gone to paypal to open a dispute about this and paypal says, A DISPUTE CAN BE OPEN IF IT IS 45 DAYS FROM THE DATE OF PURCHASE? In my case it is now 67 days.

Please advise What can i do? What is the use of the 3 months warranty if we can not open a dispute after 45 days (as paypal says)??

You first need to see who offers the warranty. If it is eBay, you need to call them and dont let them transfer you, they will also not hang up because of customer service policies within the company. Go to billing and tell them you will be sending back the laptops and expect repayment.

If it is currys, you need to google them. I think this is their site. http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/index.html

Call them and dont let them hang up. Inform them that since they are the carrier, shipper, and charger of the laptop purchases, they are the ones responsible. Also inform them of the warranty. There are express warranties of merchantability, etc. that concern US Contract law, tough to get into, but telling you that they cant just legally ignore you. Even companies who dont offer a warranty at all have to give time to "test" items and they can be returned. FYI, driving a new car off the lot does not void return btw.

Call Curry. impress the desire to do this.

Also, how did you purchase these? If you used American Express, call them and they will threaten suit to the company who sold the faulty computers after telling you to return them. They will end up settling and you will be set.

the 3 month warrantee will have been offered by pc world/currys and will have nothing to do with the 45 day guarantee that is given by paypal. you need to contact the supplier directly.

open the paypal dispute and state the issue with the laptop and that you tried to contact the supplier. Also try and email the supplier and state that you need it repaired.
