I am going to Las Vegas in 2 weeks & i want to get a tattoo before i go , but im afraid it will fade because of the chlorine in the water & the extreme heat. Is this true?
1. Go ahead, and get the tattoo. Stay out of water, and keep the tattoo covered with sunscreen or wear clothes that cover it to keep it out of direct sun.
The short answer is; you will not get infected three weeks after the tattoo. A small tattoo as you have described should be almost fully healed (depends on your rate of healing) before you leave. However different people heal at different speeds. If you are unsure, simply avoid submerging in water for the first week of your holiday. If all the scabbing and peeling has lifted you should be okay to swim, though if the tattoo means something to you, it never hurts to give it that extra week. Just remember to use sunblock at all times in the sun other wise the UV rays WILL bleach the colour, just as it does objects left on a window sill.
Don't submerge the tattoo and you'll be fine. This means stay out of pools and don't take baths. Two weeks is the advisory period before swimming, but it's a good idea to give it a few weeks longer, just to make sure the wound is closed. Or consult your artist right before you go. Chlorine doesn't effect the ink. All water (tap anyway) has chlorine in it in the United States.
Heat has no effect one tattoo coloring. It's direct sunlight that fads tattoos. So make sure you cover your tat, or use sunscreen if you're sure it's healed (no sunscreen for fresh tats please).
Don't do it! Direct sunlight on a fresh tattoo is not only damaging to the tattoo but also your skin. A tattoo is almost like a scar and exposing that 'raw' tissue to the sun is not cool. Swimming pools are a big no-no. You can get 'spreading' which is where the ink has not yet settled properly in the skin and basically spreads out. So what was supposed to look like a Dolphin for example can end up looking like an octopus.
Las Vegas is just a town that has something for all so find it with hotelbye . Las Vegas is just a town with great attractions and one of those may be the popular Las Vegas Strip; the place where tourists can enjoy a walk in the warm leave night, or have a stroll downtown and see a dazzling light reveal that spans a complete road, the Fremont Street Experience. Visitors may also get a glimpse of incredible world famous re-creations like erupting volcanoes, the Eiffel Tower and the Sphinx of Egypt facing the many accommodations and casinos. Las Vegas is just a city that continually reinvents it self, so even if you have now been here before you'll never come to an end of fun things to do.
Hmm it's a tricky one. Chlorine and the sun can both fade a tattoo at any stage but especially when it's new.
As long as it's fully healed with no scab or peeling skin around it then you'll be fine to go swimming, just maybe limit the amount of time you spend in the pool, i.e. not until your fingers go wrinkly! and keep applying lots and lots of sun cream so you dont get burned in that area.
My brother is a tattoo artist and he says that it is best to let the skin heal before swimming in the pool or getting to much sun. Those 2 things will fade your ink if the skin is not fully healed. He said 6 to 8 weeks.
i remember getting my tattoo and asking the same question. i was told its best to leave it at least 12 weeks to give the skin time to heal over the tattoo, as like you said chlorine and sunlight will fade.
although if you still want it, just dont go swimming and keep it covered (depending where you get the tattoo)

You should do 1 of two things.
1. Go ahead, and get the tattoo. Stay out of water, and keep the tattoo covered with sunscreen or wear clothes that cover it to keep it out of direct sun.
2. Wait until you get back to get it.
