I've been starting to have armpit hair (I turned 13 recently) and it's been getting long - like kinda noticeable long when I raise my arms, not long LONG like gross long but I'm self-conscious anyway. Especially because I have gymnastics training during which we wear tank tops and raise our arms a lot.
So I finally decided to trim it just now. I just used a pair of normal scissors, and now it's not as noticeable. It makes me feel less self-conscious.
Are there any real big cons about using scissors to trim armpit hair instead of, say, shaving? I don'r want to approach my mum to ask her how to shave and stuff though, so using a pair of scissors to simply trim it seemed like a good solution.
It didn't take very long, although it took a bit of effort to position the scissors right to cut the hairs near the root. I accidentally pinched myself once, but I didn't cut myself, just a slight pinch, so that's okay. I'll be more careful next time, so apart from that, are there any other disadvantages?
Thank you so much in advance!

girls don't trim armpit hair, THEY SHAVE them. ask your mother directly. hair in arm pits look disgusting and they stink as well
Sorry I'm a guy and I totally disagree with the previous answer. There's nothing wrong with a girl having hair under her arms. I've had many g/f's who didn't shave and there was never any bad odour, nor did I think it was disgusting. Hair under your arms is one of your body's ways of telling you that you're becoming a young woman and not a girl anymore. Be proud of that!
You should just shave or wax. Much easier this way! I'm betting unless your mom is a hippie or has something against shaving hair she won't have a problem with showing you what to do!
It's okay to ask your mom, she knows that you're growing up ;)
If you have a pair of rounded scissors it's safer to use them instead of the regular ones
I prefer waxing then shaving, it lasts longer but it hurts
Just ask your mom to shave...that way when it gets longer and thicker you can just use a razor.
