oil sending unit or oil pump check the pressure on the oil pump if you cant, which you prob wont be able to, just know its either oil pump or sending unit, if it oil pump replace asap because it can cause dmg to your engine
It could be oil seals or pump.
It could be blocked oil pathways in the engine.
It could be a lot of things.
It wont be crankshaft or big end bearings.
You can't drive it with the oil light on or you'll wreck the engine as even if its a sender unit or wiring fault you wouldn't know if a real problem occurred.
If you have to drive the car then rev it when you are stationary so the oil light stays out.
Put an engine flush oil additive in the car, follow the instructions for it.
Then change the engine oil and filter.
I would try that first as it is the cheapest option and it could improve the situation even if that isn't the problem.
Use cheap oil as you might be changing it again anyway and it wont harm your engine.
If your engine has done high miles and the oil light goes out eventually when you rev I would say that your engine is showing signs of wear in the main crankshaft and big end bearings causing a low oil pressure. The clue is you have had the oil changed and the modern lower viscosity engine oils are too thin in a worn engine.
Try adding an oil booster such as "Wynn's" or changing oil to a thicker viscosity brand, Halfords would advise you.
These are the cheaper options if they don't work it could be an expensive repair.
Low oil level, blocked oil filter, failing oil pump, badly worn engine bearings.
You might be skint, but I hope your wreck is insured.
Sound like the oil is not getting all round the engine my be they did not change you oil filter.
Sounds like low oil pressure to me, i'd guess a weak pump
put some very thick gearbox oil in the engine and drive with mechanical empathy cos your engine has reached the end of it,s life. stay off motorway,s and use as light throttle as possible you do not mention how old the car is ? is it worth repairing? if it was me i would sling it in the auctions, . and buy another car
Possibly a bad earth connection.
Oil pump & or seals
nothings wrong it just means yo should check your oil.
pull out the dipstick and check the oil is within the two grooves.
if its below then add more oil.
