So I want to get a tattoo that's somehow related to Catcher in the rye, but I'm having trouble finding something that's not an obvious reference but still unique. Does anyone have any ideas?
By the way, don't post a comment if you're just going to say that the book sucks, or that getting a tattoo is a stupid idea.

I'd get a carousel horse. It's another hugely symbolic element of the novel. If you want to get adventurous, you could add a little Phoebe on it. I think she was wearing blue? At least, that's what the girl on the carousel in Rainer Maria Rilke's poem is wearing, and that's the image Salinger "borrowed" for his climactic scene in the novel.
I'd advise against this, the Catcher in the Rye has some real bad publicity. People might think you're planning to murder a celebrity, never a good impression.
how about the horse on the cover of some versions of the catcher in the rye or ducks? i say ducks because he always asked the taxi driver where the ducks go when the pond freezes. i rye field could be an option too i suppose.
that's my favorite book<3
DUDE. you HAVE to get the ducks and the pond.
or maybe just a pond without ducks.
that would be the BEST catcher in the rye tat EVER.
and most people overlook that point. so it wouldnt be obvious.
a BaseBall Mittin with Green ink on it, Kids falling off a cliff into adult hood, The carsel < dunu how to spell it. The Red hunting hat is a Big one.
red hunting hat, ali's baseball glove, carousel horse, the ducks, the line: if a body catch a body coming through the rye?, something that resembles innocence cause he cared about kids being all innocent and stuff...
Thats hard. How about you get a tatoo which spells out the name in chinese or something Great book.
"Piggy's got the conch!"
...(wait, wrong book.)
Ok, here we go: "No phonies allowed."
