As he grows he will calm down but they are very energetic dogs and were breed as pointers. The only way you will be able to harness this is to get him involved in something that will stimulate his mind.
Dogs love working with their owners so if they think they are joining in they will love it. Just make sure as he's growing up you are walking him enough.
Stimulating games such as getting him to wait whilst you hide a treat and telling him to find it will wear him out. Also swimming in the sea is also a good way of wearing him out.
Just as long as he gets as much exercise as he needs he will be okay.
If you stuggle then you may want to look into finding him a dog walker to take him out when you can't.
At eleven weeks even the most sedate breeds are "hyper". The English Springer Spaniel is a high energy breed (particularly the field-bred lines) and like most gundog breeds is slow-maturing and may be 2-3 years old before they are psychologically mature.
Why did you get this breed if you did not research these traits/if they are not suitable for your needs?
Most Springers are lovely, intelligent dogs. The goal should not be to remove the energy but to train the dog so that is has proper outlets for its energy and can be channeled and controlled. Find a training class to get a good foundation and be prepared for 1-2 years of patience and humor while it grows enough brains and self-control to make much use of its training.
I got my first English springer in 1984. I've have both the field and bench type. I've had older rescues and young pups. They are happy joyful dogs that want to do things with their owners. The hyperactivity that people talk about in this breed is due to a lack of mental and physical stimulation by their owners. They are not a dog for a couch potato or some one who has no interest in training a nice dog.
Well the breed was bred to work out on the fields to help hunters flush out prey and whatnot which means they had to be bred for that hgh energy to keep it up on the hunt without slowing down, so they need a a fair bit of mental and physical exercise daily. Maye if you were looking for a much more low energy breed you should of gotten something else lol. She is also a puppy, but also remember when she is an adult and isnt given the right amount of daily exercise she will remain hyper and become destructive.
It's important to know not only how to train a dog, but what to train it to do. Read more https://tr.im/aKHLv
Puppies have no sense of correct behavior, so they offer a million things you could correct; which should you address? In this section, we'll cover what to correct as well as how to train a pooch. We'll also discuss dog obediences classes -- also known as puppy kindergarten -- and specific thing you can teach your dog if you plan on traveling with it. Life tosses up myriad challenges to a dog's sense of obedience, and the more he's trained to understand, the happier you both will be. Finally, for fun and practical benefit, we'll cover a few basic tricks you can teach your dog. They're a wonderful way to bond with your pet and to entertain the both of you, while teaching it how to behave and react to your commands. Everybody wins!
There working dogs and puppy's are full of energy i presume this dog is being trained ,If its 11 weeks it wont of had all its shots ,So cant be walked outside your yard ,but once this puppy can be walked along with training it should calm down ,
The clue is in the title of the breed SPRINGER spaniel. She will need A LOT of exercise, running, not just walking, and some decent training, its hard work but the result will be worth it
