i'm a native spanish speaker and it's hah-lah-pe-nyo(ny as in canyon) don't say jah that is just weird and if i heard it i would laugh. my history teacher said he went to scotland and they said jahlapeno(like galapagos) but that isn't right either. in spanish the j makes a h sound, keep that in mind
as far as I am aware americans pronounce it halepeno but I have always pronounced it jalepeno....tell your pizza man to do one and you will pronounce it the way you want to!! xx

Like we say 'bus' & 'baRth' in the south east, but in the east midlands it's likely to be 'boos' & 'bAth'.
