I was using my Pentax K1000 and I had my film all loaded and ready. I took up to 24 photos then it wouldn't let me take more. The button that takes the picture was locked. Is this because the 35mm Film can only take 24 photos? Or does it take more? I'm confused... =(

Look at the roll when you buy it. It will have a number like 12, 24 or 36. If you want to take more pictures, get a 36 exposure roll. It looks like yours was a 24 exposure roll. Once it's hard to wind, don't force it, or you could break the film. Just rewind.
35mm Film Roll
Well if you look through the window at where you load your film you see the film information including a number. It probably says 24. Meaning indeed 24 exposures and that is it.
In the local shops currently I only can find the most common film, and obviously 36 exposures :!
But webshops still have everything. So rewind get the negative processed and get yourself another canister of film.
35mm film comes in 12, 24, and 36 exposures. Sounds like you're out of film.
You can get film in 12, 24, and 36 shot rolls. Once you reach the end, you need a new canister of film.
Most consumer end film comes in 24 shot rolls. Professional film (e.g. Fuji Velvia) and most B&W films usually come in 36 shot rolls.
Occasionally you can get more, e.g. once I got about 26 shots out of a 24-shot roll, since film manufacturers will usually include about 3 extra frames in a roll to compensate for the fact that most cameras will load and wind film differently.
Yeah, you can squeeze one or two additional frames out of roll film.
