currently using eley 2.5 inch carts, finding them effective, but past about 20 yards the pattern is very loose and having difficulty with crows/rooks at this range. im no expert on shooting, so does anyone know what would be best for making it as long range as possible? perhaps 3 inch carts or something?
thanks a lot in advance!

First of all ,, all well and good saying switch to a 3" load which is the answer but onley if the gun is proofed to take a 3" load.
The combernation you want for maximum distance is a heavy load trough the tightest of choke you have, since its a hushpower the choke is fixed.
I gotta agree with Shogun, the .410 doesn't have a whole lot of pellets, so switching to a 3 inch will give you some more pellets. This means there will be less holes in your pattern out past 20 yards. If your shotgun has a full choke tube, I'd use that, as that will tighten your pattern up meaning less holes in the pattern for those crows to fly through.
I solved that problem by switching to Remington 3 inch Game Loads. I use #5 shot which is listed as having a velocity of 1135 fps. Of course I use a full choke for longer ranges. I have killed crow at 30 yards with this load, while they were sitting in a tree eating my pecans.
