Hey all, Im 16 and about 6 months ago I noticed that I had a marble sized mass attached to my right testicle. It is compleatly hard and does not hurt unless i squeeze it very hard.
I went to the Doctors today and she told me I needed to get an Ultrasound tomorrow. I also was reading that If you shine a small flashlight through the teste and mass that the light should be able to pass through the teste and the mass, But the mass is compleatly black.. does this mean i have cancer?!??!?! Thanks for all the help! prefure help from doctors/nurses or people that had the same problem! Thanks again!

that flashlight test is to have an idea if the mass is solid or cystic. light passes through non-solid scrotal mass like a hydrocoele, that is a mass in ur scrotum containing the fluid coming from ur abdominal cavity (the connection b/w abdomen and scrotum is just like in inguinal hernia, only that it is too small so as only fluid can pass thru it and not ur intestines).
ur doctor has requested ultrasound to know if that mass is solid, cystic or a combination of both.
I know you are very worried, but you can't be evaluated for cancer online. And I would not put one bit of confidence on the flashlight test. It is an old wives tale. No matter what is wrong if anything, the doctor will give you a plan of treatment. There are many other things this could be other than cancer, so just sit tight this evening and go for your ultrasound in the morning.
I heard/read that a lot of doctors use the flashlight test to see if the mass is dark and if it is then they send you ultrasound...? And some doctors just skip it and send you to ultra sound anyways?
can anyone confirm this??
Does that really make any sense to you?
If that were the case why didn’t your doctor just whip out a flashlight instead of sending you for an ultrasound?
The best thing you can do is wait until you get the ultrasound. I will pray that you don't have it!
Btw I think Denisedd is being a little rude.
Just relax for now, and see the the MRI brings. Lumps grow all the time, and ussualy are not cancer.
Testicular cancer, although scary and unsettling, is almost always curable. Ussualy even without chemo.
