So,
I live in a log cabin at the bottom of my garden, about 35-50 yards ish.
In the house my parents have sky+HD.
I was wondering, what are my options? I could put a dish on my roof, but do you need a phone line?
Any help will be appreciated!
Update:1. Do you not need a phone line for Freesat then? simply a Dish and a Freesat box?
2. You can live in a shed all you like, as long as it has no plumbing, it is not a home. #Lawyered

u need planning application as well to live in a shed .............
You do not need a phone line for Freesat: just a dish, LNB, mounting kit, satellite finder, cable and box. You also need an uninterrupted view of the south western sky where the satellite is.
You can get everything you need from www.maplin.co.uk or bigger electrical shops like Comet etc. Cost will be about £120 overall.
You can get Freeview with an ordinary tv aerial but it must be mounted as high as possible and you will have to be careful that it has a good "view" towards the transmitter. That is, if you have a low garden shed and the house is between your shed and the local tv mast then you won't get good reception. I have seen sheds with aerials mounted on tall scaffolding poles but these are not elegant.
You can mount the aerial on the house roof and run a long good-quality cable down to the shed. This will involve some clever work constructing overhead support "catenery" wire for the cable on it's span between the house and the shed. Your aerial will have to be a really good "high gain" one for this; at least 36 elements, cost about £30 from Maplin.
You must have mains in the shed and it must be free of damp and condensation or the electronic equipment will suffer badly.
I would go for both options 1. Freeview, just place a yargi (aerial) out side on the shed roof point it the same general way as all the others in the area. That should be simple enough to achieve. 2, Freesat, this you require a dish, and its a little bit more fiddly to install as its very directional and requires an addition set top box, (FreeSat box).
Freeview will get you up an running very quickly.
Where is this? I agree that I question the legality BUT there may be states and counties that would allow such things. I'd check with your city or county zoning or planning or building permit office (you may have to visit all of them). There are probably minimum safety standards, especially if you are going into a commercial enterprise with them. As to whether it is a profitable idea I'd suggest you look into general advice on creating a business plan. Who are your customer base? Why would they use this? Why would they come to you insteadof something else? How will you advertise? Do you have enough cash or credit to ride out a slow start? This sounds like some sort of camping or hunting area, so it may be seasonal. Maybe you can put together sketches and go talk to the sort of people you are thinking would be your customers.
It this shed considered a separate domicile address? If so, then you need to get whatever pay service you want on your own.
Lacking a phone, you could get freesat or Freeview.
