I know shoujou and onnanoko both mean "girl" but what's the difference?
Same as shounen and otokonoko.
Pretty much same thing.
Otokonoko is more of spoken language while shounen sounds more fomal.
Shounen is more for boy around age of 7 to 18.
Under the Juvenile Act, shounen refers to any male under age of 20
Under Child Welfare Law, shounen refers to a male at age of 18 or less.
Same goes for onnanoko and shoujo.
shoujou and shounen refer to types of manga. shoujou basically means 'girl's manga, or manga for girls', and shounen means the same, but for boys.
otokonoko and onnanoko are the actual words for boys and girls
Shoujo and shonen refer to manga..but konoko means a younger child
The difference is on'yomi and kun'yomi, i.e. 'Chinese' and native reading.
